The PADI Advanced course gives you a chance to develop more skills and experience in a wide range of diving activities. An Adventure Diver is a diver who completes any three of Advanced course dives, upgrading to Advanced Open Water is just a matter of completing the other two required dives.
Unlike the Open Water course there is a minimum of theory in the Advanced Course, just a little home study and a knowledge review for each specialty area.
There are two core subjects, Navigation and Deep diving. Then you can chose another three subjects from the following list:-
AWARE - Fish Identification
Boat
Drift
Night
Search and Recovery
Underwater Naturalist
Enriched Air
Of the Advanced Open Water dives the Deep, Enriched Air and/or Underwater Naturalist dives can be credited to specialty courses. The full Enriched Air course can be run concurrently with the Advanced Open Water course for a significant cost saving over doing these courses separately. Other specialty courses coming up soon.
The Advanced course dives can (depending on the options chosen) be run over a weekend or the course can be spread out over a period of time, even one dive at a time.
