The next step after Advanced Open water. In the PADI Rescue Diver course you learn to look after others in normal diving activities and when things don't go as smoothly as planned. While this is a serious course, most Rescue divers (and above) site the Rescue Diver course as the most rewarding course that they have completed.
Just some of the topics in the recently revised PADI Rescue Diver course include
Emergency Management
Equipment considerations
Tired diver
Panicked diver
Distressed diver under water
Missing diver
Surfacing an unconscious diver
Egress with an unconscious diver
In-water Expired Air Resuscitation
First Aid for pressure related accidents
Basic use of Oxygen equipment
Accident Scenarios
While there is some home study involved, most of the Rescue Diver course is practical and is usually conducted over a single "full on" weekend.
Course cost $280.
Divers wishing to continue their dive education after the Rescue Diver course can choose a Specialty course, Master Scuba Diver rating and/or to enter the ranks of dive professionals by doing the Divemaster course.
